EPA Repeals Part of the 2024 Power Plant Carbon Standards
The Environmental Protection Agency published a final rule on 17 September 2026 that repeals the emission guidelines for existing steam generating units and the carbon capture standards for modified coal units and new base load combustion turbines. The rule takes effect on 16 November 2026, and comment on the concurrent proposal closes on 2 November.
