Two documents, one pledge
UKHospitality published its item on 14 October 2026 and revised it the following afternoon. The Department for Work and Pensions published Britain's biggest hospitality brands partner with Government to deliver 100,000 jobs for NEET young people on GOV.UK on 15 October 2026.
Both documents carry the same employer list, the same target and the same quote from Allen Simpson, chief executive of UKHospitality.
The commitment
UKHospitality's members will target 100,000 paid jobs by the end of the Parliament. The department records a commitment to 100,000 paid jobs over three years.
The commitment covers paid employment plus work experience and training for 18-to-24-year-olds outside education, work and training.
For an owner or an asset manager the term lands on payroll. Neither document sets a wage level, a contract type or a per-company allocation.
The sixteen employers
Whitbread, McDonald's, Nando's, Marriott, Compass, Burger King, Parkdean Resorts, Haven, Fuller's, Merlin Entertainments, Stonegate Group, Mitchells and Butler, Wagamama, Sodexo, WSH Limited and De Vere.
The three components
UKHospitality sets out a partnership targeting 100,000 first starts in hospitality through jobs, training opportunities and work experience; an initial group of businesses delivering the target by the end of the Parliament; and expanded access to the Hospitality Skills Passport.
The body describes the passport as a route into employment for young people and a cost saving for members.
The quotations, each under its own office
Simpson: “Hospitality is the number one employer of young people in the economy, providing valuable and rewarding routes into work.” He said the announcement shows the Government treating hospitality as a critical sector for the NEETs crisis.
McFadden: “With the UK employment rate now the second highest in the G7, this will unlock 100,000 jobs and connect young people with employers ready to take them on and help them build a brighter future.”
The department's release also carries statements from Dominic Paul of Whitbread, David McDowall of Stonegate Group, Jean Renton of Sodexo UK and Ireland, Simon Palethorpe of Haven and Fiona Eastwood of Merlin Entertainments.
The wider programme
The department places the pledge inside an additional £2.5 billion for the Youth Guarantee and Growth and Skills Levy, aimed at almost one million young people and up to 500,000 opportunities to earn and learn.
The same release records a Jobs Guarantee expected to support more than 90,000 young people, 300,000 additional work experience and training placements, an ambition for 50,000 additional young apprentices, Youth Hubs in more than 360 communities, and £3,000 hiring incentives for employers.
It records a £450 million Youth Matters programme and a commitment to recruit 1,000 new youth workers from spring 2027.
The baseline
Alan Milburn's interim review into the root causes of youth inactivity covers almost one million young people. The release records that nearly six in ten young people who are NEET have never had a job, and that pupils absent 10 per cent of the time or more are 3.9 times more likely to become NEET.
The retail precedent
A matching 100,000-job pledge in retail went out last month, developed with Marc Bolland, the former M&S chief executive, convening employers.
The trade outlet that carried the story first reported that the initiative would launch at a hospitality venue on Thursday 15 October.
The terms still open
No per-company allocation has been published. Neither document sets a start date, a completion date beyond the two framings, or a reporting timetable.
UKHospitality calls the announcement the first step and describes the partnership as open to more businesses.
