Analysis: October 24 Publishes Four and a Half Hours and No Booking Term

The Sandcastle Classic beach day runs 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM with free entry and no published housing bureau, room block, group rate or cut-off, so a plan attaches to the four dated gates the organiser sets around the season.

The Window the Organiser Publishes

Leap's 44th Annual Sandcastle Classic runs Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Ocean Beach at Balboa Street in San Francisco. The organiser's schedule puts the public clock at 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM. That window is four and a half hours.

Teams and students fill the site earlier. Teams check in from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and move to assigned beach sites. Students arrive between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM. Building runs to 2:30 PM, and the award ceremony starts at 3:15 PM.

Entry is free. The FAQ states that the public can drop in at Ocean Beach on October 24 and does not need to register.

No Procurement Instrument Is Published

The pages read for this column publish no housing bureau, no room block, no group rate and no cut-off date for the October 24, 2026 date. They publish no shuttle plan, no coach drop-off point and no parking term. A buyer that asks for a bid has no document to answer.

The Money Sits With the Teams and the Sponsors

A team submits a $500 registration fee and sets a fundraising goal of at least $5,000. The organiser sets a $300,000 goal for the 2026 edition, and the highest grossing team in the event's history raised $60,000. Sponsor logos and materials close on October 1, 2026, 23 days before the beach day.

The Season Is the Dated Calendar

The FAQ states that additional events take place over the summer and weekly during October ahead of the main event. The sponsors page names four of them: the Sandcastle Team Kick-Off Mixer, participant trainings under Fundraising 101 and Guidelines to the Classroom, the Sandcastle Pre-Party, and the Sandcastle Post Party known as Castles and Cocktails.

The benefits table marks invitations to pre and post events in all four sponsorship bands. The Kick-Off Mixer and Castles and Cocktails carry the industry networking terms the sponsors page sells.

The Season's Dated Gates

Four clocks sit before the build, and each one is published. Team registration closes August 15, 2026, 70 days ahead of the beach day. Sponsor materials close October 1, 2026, 23 days ahead. Individual participant registration runs through October 15, 2026, nine days ahead. Classroom visits run across September and October, and the partner-schools page asks each team for two to three visits before the Classic.

The pre and post events carry dates from the 2024 edition. The organiser's calendar lists the Sandcastle Pre-Party on October 10, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and the Castles and Cocktails Award Ceremony on November 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at El Rio, 3158 Mission St, San Francisco.

Both entries sit against the 42nd edition on October 26, 2024. On that record the Pre-Party ran 16 days before the build and Castles and Cocktails ran 12 days after it. The organiser's events page shows no upcoming events, so no 2026 date is published for either event.

The Registered Unit

The organiser describes a team as three to five companies with one partner elementary school, and it caps the field at 30 teams. More than 25 local schools and 500 donating companies and advertisers take part. The 2026 media release counts professionals from over 100 architecture, design, engineering, construction and technology companies.

No published figure carries a travel term. No room night, no arrival night and no stay length appears for any edition of the event.

The Position

A plan attaches to what the organiser publishes. The beach day carries four and a half hours of clock, free entry and no booking term. The season carries four named gatherings and four dated gates, and the 2024 record is the only dated precedent.

The two dates a buyer can hold today are October 1, 2026 for sponsor materials and October 15, 2026 for individual registration. The build day itself carries no rate, no block and no cut-off, so no term is available to negotiate.
