The four published hours
The King Mango Strut runs on Sunday 3 January 2027 through the streets of Coconut Grove. The event page sets a 2 p.m. start and a 6 p.m. finish. The street closure begins at 10 a.m., and the page prints no hour for the streets to reopen.
The About page describes the parade as annual and its timing as sometime around the new year. The event page fixes the 2027 date.
What the crowd figure carries
The About page counts over 10,000 onlookers and hundreds of Strutters. The event page sets admission at free. No page prints a gate count, a ticket count or a cap.
Ten thousand is a footfall estimate the organiser publishes. It counts people on the street on a Sunday afternoon.
The plaza programme has no finish
Post-parade entertainment on Commodore Plaza begins directly after the parade. The event page gives it no end hour, so the published record stops at 6 p.m.
Ten in the morning is the priced hour
The closure begins four hours before the banana drop. A car that reaches the Grove after 10 a.m. meets a closed route.
The organiser names six places to park: the Municipal Garage at Oak Avenue and Mary Street, a block from the route, CocoWalk, Mayfair, Coconut Grove Playhouse, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and Coconut Grove Elementary School. The page prints no rate and no event-day hours for any of them.
Bike Coconut Grove staffs a free attended valet from noon to 5:30 p.m. in the courtyard of St. Stephen's church, with entry from the church lot on Main Highway.
Two published windows cover arrival: before 10 a.m. by car, or after noon by bike.
Where the fence holds
Saturday 2 January holds the arrival. A guest who sleeps that night in the Grove walks to a 2 p.m. start and leaves the car parked.
Set the fence on that Saturday as a two-night minimum covering 2 and 3 January. The pair carries a guest through the parade and the plaza programme. A non-refundable rate on the pair takes the cancellation out of the forecast.
3 January then sells at the published rate to guests already in the market.
Why 3 January stays off the compression calendar
The organiser publishes no room block, no hotel rate and no housing partner. Its sitemap carries 14 routes, and none of them is a hotel page.
A compression instrument commits contracted inventory against a defended rate. The Strut offers four published hours and a free gate.
Four items would change that reading: a street reopening hour, a finish for the Commodore Plaza programme, a gate count, and a room block with a rate and a cut-off date.
The decision for 2027
Put Saturday 2 January 2027 on the compression calendar with a two-night minimum. Hold 3 January at the market rate. Review the four missing items after the 2027 edition, when the organiser has a gate count and a plaza finish to publish.
Ask the organiser for each item in writing before any fence is written against the Sunday.
