What the Booking Publishes, and Who Publishes It
NSTA holds its National Conference on Science and STEM Education at the Indiana Convention Center from 4 to 7 November 2026. The venue publisher forecasts 4,000 attendees. NSTA publishes no attendance figure on its event site. The 4,000 carries one publisher, and that publisher is the venue.
The four days run Wednesday to Saturday. Three ticketed offerings open the window ahead of the main programme. The Professional Learning Institutes run Wednesday 4 November, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with eight institutes listed. The Leadership Development Academy runs Wednesday, 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The Leaders Institute runs Thursday 5 November, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Each of the three pages carries the same line: "Registration opens at 7:15 AM". The conference Schedule at a Glance puts Wednesday registration at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Four Nights, and the One Sold Separately
The programme closes on Saturday 7 November. The final concurrent sessions run to 2:00 p.m., and the closing reception runs 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Those clocks support a three-night stay from Wednesday to Saturday for a delegate on the main conference registration. A delegate who holds a seat on a Wednesday ticketed offering stands at the 7:15 a.m. door on Wednesday morning, and that stay opens on the Tuesday night.
NSTA publishes the instrument that separates the two groups. The institutes page states that a delegate "may add an Institute or the Leadership Development Academy to your conference registration or purchase as a stand-alone ticket". The same page states that National Conference registration is not required to attend the Leaders Institute. It states that Leaders Institute registrants may purchase conference registration at a discounted rate.
A separately priced day produces a separately priced room night. A district that sends one administrator to the Thursday Leaders Institute buys a Wednesday night and a Thursday night. A district that registers a team for the full conference buys three nights.
The Block, and the 24 Days It Holds
Reservations run through IMN Solutions, which NSTA names as its official housing provider. NSTA takes reservations first-come, space-available. The rate table carries 13 hotels. Published rates run from $189 to $279, with a median of $249 and a mean of $241.85. The top of the band sits 47.6 percent above the floor, a spread of $90.
The guarantee date is 11 October 2026. NSTA publishes the term in full: "All reservations must be received by October 11, 2026, to guarantee availability and conference rates. After this date, reservations will be made based on availability and hotels may charge higher rates." That date sits 24 days before the conference opens. NSTA publishes no shuttle service between the conference hotels and the convention centre.
The venue footer supplies the inventory basis. Downtown Indianapolis holds 7,100 hotel rooms, and 4,700 of them connect to the convention center by skywalk. A 4,000 forecast equals 56.3 percent of the downtown count at one attendee per room, and 85.1 percent of the skywalk-connected count.
The Published Calendar Around the Booking
The venue's event calendar carries six bookings in November 2026. It lists no convention-center booking between 31 October and 4 November. The NSTA booking runs 4 to 7 November at the same 4,000 forecast. The Midwest Healthcare Engineering Conference and Trade Show follows on 8 to 10 November at 600. The IU Health Leadership Development Institute runs 10 November at 2,200. The Percussive Arts Society International Convention runs 11 to 14 November at 5,200. The ASHA Convention runs 19 to 21 November at 13,500.
Where the Exposure Sits
Two published lines carry the risk. The first is the travel line inside a training budget. Training magazine's 2025 Training Industry Report, published 10 November 2025, puts total U.S. training expenditure up 4.9 percent to $102.8 billion in 2025. Its travel line falls. The report states: "Other training expenditures (i.e., travel, facilities, equipment) declined to $22.1 billion from $25 billion in 2024." That is an 11.6 percent fall inside a total that rose. The report projects from a universe of 152,572 U.S. organizations with more than 100 employees, and it publishes no district-level figure.
The second published line is the stand-alone ticket. NSTA offers the INDY26 Leadership Experience at $525 against a stated "over $1,400 in value". The institutes page publishes no price for an individual institute and no price for conference registration.
The Position, and Three Checks
The block carries the published terms. The forecast carries one number from one publisher. That split answers the question in the title.
The exposure is arithmetic and it is published. A delegate who buys a stand-alone institute day holds a Wednesday seat and needs the Tuesday night. The budget line that funds teacher travel fell 11.6 percent in 2025 while total training spend rose 4.9 percent. The only conference price NSTA publishes is $525, and it is a bundle.
Three checks settle the question for a named hotel. The first is that hotel's position in the 13-property rate table. The second is the rooms it holds under the IMN Solutions block against its own inventory for 4 to 7 November. The third is booking pace at the 11 October guarantee date, the last published point at which the block's size is knowable.
