The claim and the number beside it
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce runs the Indiana Safety and Health Conference and Expo at the Indiana Convention Center. The venue forecasts 850 attendees for February 8 to 10, 2027.
The organiser's superlative sits in three fields on its home page. The meta description, the og:description and the JSON-LD page description each read "the largest safety event in Indiana". The phrase does not appear in the page's visible copy. No competing Indiana safety conference publishes an attendance figure on any page read for this piece, so the claim stands unmatched.
The team ladder in the price table
The organiser publishes a discount ladder that scales with the employer's headcount. Three to five delegates from one company take 20 percent, six to ten take 25 percent and eleven or more take 30 percent. A parallel ladder gives VPP and INSharp site employees 20 percent at one or two delegates, 25 percent at three to ten and 30 percent at eleven or more. Both apply to new orders, exclude the February 8 workshops, the expo-only pass and the student rate, and cannot be combined with other offers.
Eleven full-conference registrations at $699 come to $7,689 before the 30 percent band, and $5,382.30 after it.
The programme page supports the ladder. Companies with five or more attendees are recognised at the opening general session on February 9.
The expo floor in two counts
The exhibitors page names 47 lines of companies for the 2027 conference at the Indiana Convention Center on February 9, and three of those lines carry two companies each. The organiser's programme page describes the same show as "100-plus leading companies". Two of the organiser's own pages carry two measures for one floor. The name list is countable. The 100-plus line is a scale claim.
A single expo day and a contested Sunday
The expo runs one day, February 9, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A delegate on the expo-only pass at $129 holds one night.
The venue and the organiser date the conference differently. The venue's event page opens the event on Sunday February 7, 2027. The organiser's registration page runs February 8 to 10, and its programme starts Monday February 8 with the pre-conference workshops and a 4:30 p.m. welcome reception in Hall H. Neither party reconciles the gap on any page read. Under the venue's span the group holds Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. Under the organiser's span it holds Monday and Tuesday. Sunday night is the difference between the two spans.
The arithmetic on 850
The venue footer counts 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis and 4,700 connected by skywalk. The forecast equals 11.97 percent of the downtown base and 18.09 percent of the skywalk-connected base.
Three nights at 850 come to 2,550 room nights, or 35.92 percent of the downtown base. Two nights come to 1,700 room nights, or 23.94 percent. Both figures run on the venue's forecast, and both are arithmetic.
The surrounding calendar carries company. The venue's feed returns 14 records between January 20 and February 28, 2027. The Indiana Green Expo runs February 8 to 10 and shares all three midweek nights. The Core-Mark Expo runs February 10 to 11 and takes the group's checkout day.
February prices and the wider market

Bradford Allen published a Downtown Indy Alliance snapshot in March 2026, citing CoStar and STR. Downtown occupancy averaged 64.7 percent against a U.S. average of 62.4 percent, downtown ADR averaged $209.11 for a 12 percent year-over-year rise, and downtown RevPAR was $135.20, up 13 percent. The market recorded 8.1 million room nights in the twelve months to mid-2025, more than 580,000 above the pre-COVID peak, and the pipeline at mid-year carried more than 1,500 rooms under construction, 3,402 in final planning and 3,220 proposed.
CBRE Hotels Research reported banquet revenue at convention hotels down 7.3 percent in 2025 and up 8.7 percent at resorts, across a sample of 2,669 U.S. full-service, resort and convention hotels.
The verdict
850 delegates is dependable February base demand for downtown on the published record. The organiser's own price table builds the volume. Six registration products place arrivals across three days, and the team ladder pays an employer to send eleven. A 47-line exhibitor list puts a floor under the expo. The convention package behind it holds 5,200 connected rooms, and the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis supplies 499 of them.
Two published qualifications stand against the case. The expo runs a single day, so exhibit-driven attendance concentrates on February 9. The Sunday February 7 start belongs to the venue's record, and the organiser's window begins February 8. A hotel pricing the Sunday night prices the contested night.
