A 450 Forecast on One Saturday
The Indiana Convention Center lists Victory Athletics Spirit in Exhibit Hall A on January 9, 2027, with a forecast attendance of 450. The venue's events calendar carries the figure on the row.
A second row holds the same date. The Whitetail Film Tour runs in Wabash Ballroom 1-2 at a forecast of 300.
January 9, 2027 falls on a Saturday. The venue publishes no doors time and no session clock for the championship, and its calendar export for the date carries the all-day default.
The Organiser's Own Record
Victory Athletics Spirit holds the event. Its page for the Checkered Flag Championship carries the date and the line "More Information Coming Soon!". It publishes no session grid and no division order.
Its policy pages carry the operating rules. Adults aged 18 and over need a current background check to reach the floor and the warm-up area. Cheer teams need at least five members and dance teams at least four. Routine limits run 2 minutes 30 seconds for cheer, dance and rec or club cheer, 2 minutes for all star prep and 1 minute 30 seconds for novice cheer. The division list carries eleven cheer-side groups and six dance-side groups.
Registration runs through regchamp.com. The checklist covers the roster, the division, the level and the score sheet, the paid invoices, the music licences and the signed waivers. Paper copies are not accepted at the event, and every coach shows government-issued identification at coaches' check-in.
The Clocks the Organiser Publishes
A $125 late fee applies from the tenth day before the event, which is December 30, 2026. A second $125 applies to a payment taken on the Friday, the Saturday, the day before or the day of the event. A $100 change fee applies after the first preliminary schedule goes out eight days prior, on January 1, 2027. Two coaches are free per team and each additional coach costs $25.
Those dates put the organiser's own money deadlines inside the last eleven days before arrival, and the schedule release inside the last eight.
The Block Is Unpublished
The organiser publishes no housing page, no hotel list and no rate for the date. Its registration system answers behind a login.
The supply figures that exist belong to other publishers. The Convention Center's footer reads 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis, of which 4,700 connect by skywalk. Visit Indy counts 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms connected once the Signia opens, and states the downtown pipeline will bring the total within walking distance of the Center to more than 10,000 rooms.
What Booking This Date Buys
A 450-attendee, one-day championship produces a narrow room need. The organiser's payment rule names the Friday and the Saturday, and a team that arrives the night before needs a Friday room. The published clocks put that need on the nights of January 8 and January 9, 2027.
The market prices those nights at a published level. The Downtown Indy Alliance snapshot, cited in Bradford Allen's March 19, 2026 report, draws on CoStar and STR for downtown occupancy of 64.7 percent against a U.S. average of 62.4 percent, an average daily rate of $209.11 and a RevPAR of $135.20. CoStar counted 8.1 million room nights of demand in the twelve months ending at mid-year 2025, more than 580,000 above the market's pre-COVID peak.
Supply runs behind that demand. The pipeline at mid-year 2025 held more than 1,500 rooms under construction, 3,402 rooms in final planning and 3,220 rooms proposed.
Why the Month Does Not Move
The venue's January calendar carries eight events and a forecast total of 32,500. The two January 9 rows hold 750 of it, or 2.3 percent.
The month's weight sits later. The Central Zone Invitational carries 20,000 across January 23 and 24. January 29 to 31 carries 8,250 across three rows: the Circle of Stars Gymnastics Invitational at 5,000, the RxHealing sales convention at 2,000 and The Indianapolis Royal Weekend at 1,250. Youth Rally and Mass Service carries 1,500 on January 20.
The evidence supports one position. Book the date for base demand. Hold the month's rate plan steady.
Base demand is the share of January that a 450-person, single-day event fills. Two nights in a month whose downtown occupancy publishes at 64.7 percent sit inside the gap between the January 9 rows and the January 20 booking, 11 days wide.
What Would Change the Position
Three published facts would falsify it. A schedule showing a second competition day would double the night count. A larger forecast from the producer or the venue would move the weight of the date. A published block, with a cut-off date and a rate, would put a floor under the room demand the event carries.
None of the three exists today. The organiser's event page still reads "More Information Coming Soon!".
