The position
Corporate learning teams rebuilt how they meet, and the rebuilt structure holds. The block terms ATD published for its two Indianapolis conferences show a practitioner-scale programme sold with a second, cheaper product beside it. Budget pressure started the shift. The structure is what stayed.
What the block concedes
ATD OrgDev runs 29 September to 1 October 2026 at the Indiana Convention Center, in rooms Sagamore 1-7, with a venue forecast of 1,000 attendees. The conference hotel page names two properties: the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis at 1 S Capitol Ave and The Westin Indianapolis at 241 W Washington Street. ATD secured $195 a night at each, plus applicable taxes and fees. The discounted rate is available through 3 September 2026, based on availability.
The rate is flat across both properties. The cut-off sits a month before arrival. A buyer who needed a third property had none inside this block.
The reservation path is shared. The Hyatt button on the OrgDev hotel page points at the Hyatt group-booking link for property INDRI under code G-ATD9. The Westin button points at book.passkey.com/go/ATDCore4. ATD Core4 runs the same three days in the same building with the same two hotels, the same $195 rate and the same 3 September cut-off.
What the venue calendar adds
The venue lists twelve events between 22 September and 12 October 2026. OrgDev and Core4 share 29 September to 1 October with the MAPP Benchmarking and Best Practices Conference, which carries a forecast of 650 in Wabash Ballroom 1-3. Downtown Indianapolis holds 7,100 hotel rooms, and 4,700 of them connect to the convention center by skywalk on the venue's own figures.
The procurement evidence
Training magazine's 2025 Training Industry Report puts the buying roles in numbers. Thirty-five percent of the organisations surveyed manage requests for proposals and bids. Sixty-eight percent recommend the purchase, 21 percent hold the final decision and 25 percent set the budget.
The same report puts U.S. training expenditure at $102.8 billion for 2025, up 4.9 percent, with payroll up nearly 7 percent to $64.7 billion and spending on outside products and services up 29 percent to $16 billion.
One line inside that rising total moved the other way. Other training expenditures, which the report defines as travel, training facilities, development and equipment, fell to $22.1 billion from $25 billion. The average training expenditure at large companies fell to $11.7 million from $13.3 million.
Two products on one registration page
ATD sells the in-person conference across four date-tiered windows. Early bird closed in June, preferred in July and advanced on 12 September. The standard tier is live at $1,525 for an ATD member and $1,725 for a non-member. The team tier reads $1,450 and $1,650.
The second product carries its own windows. ATD Core4 Virtual runs 1 to 3 December 2026, from $495 for a member at the early-bird tier to $895 for a non-member at the standard tier. The $495 virtual early-bird member price is about a third of the $1,525 in-person standard member price.
The programme detail
The schedule page publishes a time grid across three days: registration, breakfast, general sessions, concurrent session blocks, a breakfast panel, solution sessions and a reception. The agenda page carries no session list. Its own text tells readers to bookmark the address for updates, and it states that the full agenda can be browsed on the virtual platform as a guest.
Why the position holds
The published record shows one association running two practitioner programmes on one block, a virtual tier priced at a third of the in-person member rate, and funded travel falling inside a rising training budget. A buyer reading the next block can ask for the terms this one carried: the property list, the rate, the cut-off date and the availability language.
