The position
The Heartland Film Festival is a dated calendar anchor. The room commitment behind it is unpublished. The organiser runs eleven consecutive days in Indianapolis each October. Across its own 35 published pages it states no room block, no group rate, no host hotel and no shuttle.
The calendar repeats. The inventory has no published instrument.
The figures the position rests on
Tickets. 250 of the 260 in-person entries inside the eleven days price standard admission at $13. The organiser's 17 September release gives theater screenings at $13, virtual screenings at $15 and premium events between $10 and $20.
The centerpiece. The organiser caps the Centerpiece Screening of Wild Horse Nine at 530 places in the Tobias Theater at Newfields on 14 October. Its 518 main-floor seats stood at 372 sold and 146 open at a 25 September 2026 read.
The opening night. The platform carries a sold-out flag on Opening Night: JIMMY on 8 October. 155 tickets sit on its single bucket at $75 for reserved seating with the VIP after party.
The prizes. The Awards Brunch on 18 October pays more than $60,000 in cash to filmmakers, including $20,000 for the Narrative and Documentary Grand Prize-winning films. The organiser states it has given $4 million in cash prizes since 1992.
The demand shape the platform publishes
The platform holds 261 entries with a venue for the edition and 260 inside the eleven days. 135 of the 260 start at 5 p.m. or later. Ten of the eleven nights finish after 9 p.m.
The two weekends carry 62 and 61 entries. The four weeknights from 12 to 15 October carry 85 entries, 49 of those from 5 p.m. onward.
Seven entries read SOLD OUT in the event name. The Awards Brunch public bucket holds 56 places, and none remained at the 25 September read. The room that hosts it, Tinker House Events, is capped at 230. Alamo Theater 3 is capped at 106.
The exposure the buyer carries
A hotel cannot price a rate, hold inventory or write an attrition clause against a block that no page publishes.
The organiser's sitemap holds 35 addresses. Across all of them the four terms return zero hits. The word hotel appears four times, inside one hospitality block repeated on the filmmakers page and its sister page, offering filmmakers a single complimentary night dependent on availability.
An eleven-day run priced at $13 a seat measures attendance. The organiser counts attendance in seats. Every published quantity is a seat: 530 at the centerpiece, 518 on its main floor, 230 at the brunch room, 106 in Alamo Theater 3. No page converts a seat into a room night.
What holds the position up
The release dates the festival 8 to 18 October and calls it an 11-day festival, which fixes the drawing window on the record.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at The Square holds the presenting sponsorship for three years, covering October 2026, October 2027 and October 2028, as reported by WISH-TV on 29 January 2026. It is the only multi-year commitment in the published record.
How to check it
Four publications carry every figure above. The festival page at heartlandfilm.org/festival/ gives the window, the six venues and the pass products. The organiser's release names the prize total and the per-event clocks. The filmmakers page carries the single hospitality term. The ticketing platform behind the storefront returns the per-entry clocks, the venue records and the per-bucket counts.
Run the block test the same way. Fetch all 35 addresses in the organiser's sitemap, strip the markup and search for the four absent terms. The count is the finding.
What would move the position
A published block would end the question. A rate, a cut-off date and a named property would convert this calendar into base demand a hotel can underwrite.
Until then, price the week off its own clocks. Ten of the eleven nights finish after 9 p.m. The second Saturday carries 38 entries and opens at 11:45 a.m. The final Sunday clears at 7:45 p.m.
